Love, Joy, Peace...
Thanking God for the Soldiers
“Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.” (Romans 13:7)
Today at our church, we have dedicated a portion of our service to honor those brave men and women who have served or who are serving our country in the military. We are taught to do so by commandment in the Scriptures such as the 13th chapter of Romans. We are also taught to do so by the way the Word of God elevates the soldier! The greatest example of faith that the Lord Jesus encountered during His earthly ministry was that of a soldier.
One of the first people saved after the death of Christ was a soldier. The first Gentile to be filled with the Holy Ghost after Pentecost was also a soldier. In 2 Timothy 2, the Bible uses a soldier as an illustration of how a believer is to conduct himself in this present world. God evidently has a very favorable opinion of the soldier.
I read a statement this week that sums up what our attitude and gratitude should be to those who serve our nation in the role of “soldier”: “Only two defining forces EVER volunteered to die for You: Jesus Christ and the American Soldier! One died for your soul while the other one died for your freedom!”
This morning we wish to say “Thank You” to everyone who has served in the Air Force, the Army, the Coast Guard, the Navy, or the Marines. Whether you served in “peace time” or during conflict, you were there for us. We are awed and humbled at what you have done.
America wouldn’t be America had it not been for the Soldiers!
We Salute You!
