Love, Joy, Peace...
Known and Read of All Men
“Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:” ~ 2 Corinthians 3:2
After church last Sunday evening, I finished watching the Memorial Service for Charlie Kirk. Along with an estimated 100 million people, I sat tearfully amazed as his widow, Erika, publicly forgave the young man accused of murdering her husband. I’m not sure anyone saw that coming at such a time as that. For everyone who proclaimed that she and her late husband were hateful human beings, they were proven so wrong by her Christlike behavior. No cities were burned down, no effigies of individuals were set ablaze, no police cars were torched. Just quiet, tearful, heartfelt words of forgiveness!
Of course, that young woman had the eyes of millions upon her, so her testimony has circled the globe several times already. Only eternity will reveal the impact of that witness upon those who listened. We on the other hand, have a much smaller, but no less important audience watching us live out our testimonies before them. Our families, our neighbors, our co-workers, our classmates, our church family, and every single person we pass in our day-to-day activities bear witness to whatever testimony we put on display!
The question is, “When our audience reads the testimony we live out before them, is it a story worth reading?” Does it display the love of Christ? Does it speak the truth in love? Does it point people to Jesus, or away from Him?
Let us seek to live in such a way that our story is an epistle worth reading!
