God's Testing Room
“But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” ~ Job 23:10
When I was in college I worked in a large factory that made power tools. In the section where I worked we made chain saws, both gas and electric. In between the assembly line and the packaging area there was a square room layered inside and out with sound proofing. It was the testing room. In that room, each chain saw was filled with oil and gas after which it was started up and left to run on a special rack. The technician would put it on a special device that measured various aspects of the engine’s functions. When he was satisfied he turned it off and drained out the gas and oil. By the time the testing process was completed the chain saw was dirty and grimy, even though it was brand new.
It was in the testing room that any flaws in the saw were discovered and if possible, corrected. The goal was to make sure that every saw that went out of that factory was in the best condition possible!
As Job endured “the testing room of God”, he wisely realized that God was putting him through those trials to make sure he was ready to serve and glorify the Lord in the best way possible. Many verses of Scripture echo this vital truth. The testing room is messy and loud, and for the believer it is sometimes painful, but it is always governed by the wise hand of the Master!
If you are in the testing room today, be of good comfort for your God is making sure you are ready to be used in a great way!
