Love, Joy, Peace...
Before the Prayer Is Even Finished
“And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.” ~ Genesis 24: 15
Abraham’s servant had been given the task of finding a bride for Isaac in a foreign land. He had followed the directions given him with great care, but how would he know which young lady was the one God had chosen for Isaac. The servant did what any believer should do at such a time, he prayed! His prayer was as specific as it was desperate, but the Scripture says, “before he had done speaking”, the young lady herself showed up, right then and there! He had his answer before he could even say, “In Jesus’ name, Amen”!
Jesus taught us that “your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” (Matthew 6:8) We have never surprised God with our prayer requests. He sees us coming afar off, He knows what we are going to ask, and He knows exactly how He is going to take care of us!
This great truth should embolden and encourage us in our prayer lives! Our Father is waiting with such joy and anticipation of hearing our prayers, knowing that He has been waiting to give us the answer all along! May we learn to pray in greater faith with full assurance that “if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us, and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” (I John 5:14-15)
