“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.´~ Psalm 46:10 

As I watch my youngest grandson growing up, I often find myself learning as much as he is. For example, I will see Wesley trying to reach something, falling off something, trying to get a toy from under the couch, and any number of other toddler crises. His immediate response is usually to cry and wail as if the world has come to an end. There is no patience, no understanding, and no self-control! That is usually when Mommy or Daddy steps in to save the day and solve the problem. Then once again, all is right with Wesley’s world, at least for the next few minutes. 

As followers of Christ we find ourselves facing challenges of all types, big and small. Stress builds up, frustration sets in, and sometimes faith wavers. We find ourselves crying out in distress, giving in to despair, and falling into discouragement. We wonder why God allows such difficulties in our lives and fail to understand that He is actually teaching us some of the same lessons that Wesley is learning. 

Our Heavenly Father is always there, always loving, always caring, and always working! Instead of living stressed out lives, He encourages us to “be still”. Settle your spirits and calm your minds in the knowledge that He is God; He is THE God, and He is YOUR God! 

Our frustration, anger, lack of peace, and discouragement are the tell-tale signs of a weak faith that has not yet learned to “be still, and know that I am God”!
