“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;” ~ Philippians 3:10
As we celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus on this Easter Sunday, my mind is drawn to Paul’s statement in this verse. Had Jesus died, but not been resurrected, we would be trapped in the emptiness of every false religion in the world! We could study and learn ABOUT him, but that would be the extent of our knowledge. Over time, that knowledge would become warped by exaggeration, fantasy, and romanticism. And eventually that knowledge would be lost to the dustbins of history.
But because Jesus rose from the dead, we cannot only know ABOUT Him, we can know HIM! We can talk to Him, form a friendship with Him, lean upon Him, draw from His strength, find comfort in His presence, and tap into the power of His resurrection! Stephen found hope in his final moments as he saw with his own eyes the Resurrected Savior! Paul found purpose and joy in an ever-increasing relationship with his Living Lord! And every believer can find peace in the fiercest of storms because of the ever-living Prince of Peace!
All of these things are possible because He is a Living Savior, seated on the right hand of Majesty on High, and not the resident of some dusty tomb!
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
